Terms & privacy

The short, readable version

Kustos runs on your machine, so most of what a privacy policy usually worries about does not apply here.

What you are paying for

A licence to run Kustos on your own machine — $5.99 a month or $60 a year, after a 30-day free trial that asks for no card. Cancel whenever you like and it keeps working until the period you paid for ends.

What we can see

Almost nothing. Kustos keeps your collections, artwork records and watch history in its own database, on your hardware — we never receive any of it. The only thing that talks to us is the licence check, which sends your Plex account id and email and nothing else.

What leaves your server

Kustos looks things up on your behalf, with the keys you give it: title names and ids go to TMDB, TheTVDB, Trakt, MediUX, ThePosterDB and the rest, so they can return metadata and artwork. If you add an AI key, your chat messages and — when artwork text detection is on — the artwork images being checked go to that provider, under your own account. Those services are yours, under their own terms.

Your household’s data

Watch history and watchlists are read from the services you connect, on your own server, for your own use. Invite links are personal and revocable; the person who opens one connects their account and sees nothing else of yours.

The services you connect

Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Tautulli, Trakt, Simkl, TMDB and the rest are yours, under their own terms. The API keys are yours too — you make them on your own accounts, Kustos ships none of its own, and every lookup is made by your machine with your credential. Kustos talks to them only for the jobs you switch on.

Not affiliated with any of them

Kustos is an independent product. It is not made, endorsed, certified or supported by Plex, Trakt, Simkl, TMDB, ThePosterDB, MediUX, Fanart.tv, TheTVDB, MDBList, the Sonarr or Radarr projects, Stripe, Telegram, or any AI provider. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners, and appear here only to say what Kustos works with.

What Kustos will not do

It does not publish itself to the internet, it does not phone home with your library, and it does not sell or share anything. Deletion rules only ever act after a preview you have seen.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel from your account at any time. If something went wrong in the first month of a paid period, ask — we would rather refund it than argue about it.
