The questions that actually matter
What happens after the 30 days?
Sign in with Plex, then press Start free trial. It needs no card. It is one trial per Plex account, once — reinstalling, moving Kustos to another machine, or adding another server does not start a new one. When it ends, pick monthly or yearly — your rules, collections and artwork are exactly where you left them.
Where does my library data live?
On your own machine, in Kustos’s own database, and Kustos is never published to the internet. Nothing about your library comes to us — the only thing that reaches our servers is the licence check. That check sends your Plex sign-in token so our server can confirm with Plex which account you are, and starting the trial also sends your server’s id and the Plex account ids it is shared with. Kustos does look things up on your behalf, sending title names and ids to the metadata services you switch on, and artwork images to an AI provider if you add your own key.
Do housemates need to pay?
Nobody else pays, because nobody else gets access. Kustos has one operator account; an invite link only lets someone link their own Trakt account so their watchlist and plays count.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time, and the app keeps running until the period you paid for ends.
