Item metadata
Applied to each show or movie the collection resolves to, not to the collection itself.
Off by default, and every field means "leave alone" when blank. Nothing on this card touches a title until you set something, which is why it is safe to open and look at.
This is the one part of a collection that can delete media. Everything else here changes how titles are labelled or displayed. Two of the TV fields write Plex's own episode retention, and Plex does the deleting — not Kustos, and not your cleanup rules. Nothing in Kustos's cleanup safety limits, dry runs or protection applies to them.
Genres
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Genres | The list to apply. Type to search existing genres or create a new one. |
| Append | Add these genres and keep what is already there. |
| Sync | The title's genres become exactly this list. Anything else is removed. |
| Remove | Strip these genres, leaving the rest. |
Sync is the destructive one. On a collection resolving a few hundred titles it rewrites every one of them, so it wants a moment's thought rather than a habit.
Movies
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edition | Plex's edition label — "Director's Cut", "Extended", "Theatrical". Kustos reads the editions already in your library so you can pick as you type. Blank leaves it alone. |
| Auto-select subtitles | Plex's per-title subtitle preference: Account default, Manually selected, With foreign audio, or Always enabled. |
TV
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Delete episodes | Deletes episode files. Never, or after a day, a week or a month, or On next refresh. This is Plex's own episode retention, set per show, and it is how you keep a daily news show from filling a disk. |
| Keep episodes | How many episodes survive that deletion: All, the 5 latest, 3 latest or Latest, or everything from the past 3, 7 or 30 days. |
| Season display | Whether Plex shows seasons for the show: Library default, Show seasons, or Hide seasons. Display only, nothing is deleted. |
| Auto-select subtitles | As for movies. |
Read the two deletion fields together, because apart they are misleading. Delete episodes is the trigger and Keep episodes is the floor. After a week with Keep: All deletes nothing. On next refresh with Keep: Latest leaves one episode of every show in the collection the next time Plex scans.
Set them on a collection that resolves to exactly the shows you mean. A collection of daily news and talk shows is the right shape for this. A broad collection — a genre, a network, a decade — is not, because the setting lands on every show it catches.
Plex Library View — Plex Pass only
The three controls under Plex Library View — Recommended, Home and Friends' Home — promote what this collection resolves to onto Plex's own hubs. They are a Plex Pass feature: without one, Kustos still stores your choice and Plex ignores it, so nothing appears and nothing errors.
Each is three-state, and the first state is not "off":
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Leave as Plex has it | States nothing. Whatever Plex is already doing continues. |
| Show | Promote it onto that hub. |
| Hide | Keep it off that hub. |
Leave as Plex has it is not the same as Hide. If something is already promoted in Plex and you want it gone, you have to say Hide — leaving it alone leaves it promoted.
