Simkl

There is nothing to get. This is the only service on this page with no key to fetch, no account to register and no cost. Kustos ships its own Simkl application, so Simkl works the moment you open it. Skip to the People page and press Connect.

What it is for. The same ground Trakt covers, and more of it out of the box: watch history in both directions, plan-to-watch as a watchlist, live scrobbling as people play things, trending collections, and -- for anyone on Simkl Pro or VIP -- Simkl's lists as collection sources.

Each person connects their own account. You press Connect beside their name, Kustos hands you a link to send them, and they approve it on their own device. They need a free Simkl account and nothing else. You never see their password and they never register anything.

The link you send has the code built into it, so there is nothing for them to type. If it gets mangled on its way through a chat app, the code is shown beside it and can be entered by hand at simkl.com/pin. Codes last 15 minutes; if one expires, press Connect again for a fresh one.

Lists need Pro or VIP, and only for the person reading them

Simkl has around ten thousand lists -- its own official ones, including franchise collections, plus lists people have made. Kustos can build collections from any of them, but reading a list through Simkl's API requires the connected account to be Simkl Pro or VIP. That is Simkl's rule, not ours, and it applies to the person doing the reading rather than to whoever made the list.

If nobody on your server has Pro or VIP, list-backed Simkl collections simply are not offered -- Kustos does not show options that cannot work. Everything else on this page works on a free account: history, watchlist, scrobbling and trending.

Worth knowing before you pay for anything: Simkl gives Pro away free to anyone who visits the site on 20 days in a month.

If Simkl ever asks you to connect again

Simkl replaced its sign-in system in September 2026 and expects to switch the old one off around April 2027. Connections made before Kustos moved across keep working until then, but they cannot be carried over -- each person has to approve once more. Kustos marks those on the People page so you can see who is affected, and reconnecting is the same Connect button as the first time.
