Tautulli

What it is for. Watch history. Plex keeps a shallow history; Tautulli keeps the deep one. If you had Tautulli running before you installed Kustos, this key is how Kustos learns what your household watched before it arrived.

Cost. Free, self-hosted.

Kustos can install it for you. On the Tautulli card, Set up for me installs Tautulli as a real Windows app, starts it when you sign in, switches its API on, generates the key, and links the new Tautulli to your Plex server — all of it. There is no key to copy and no settings page to visit.

A Tautulli that Kustos has just installed has no history in it yet. It starts recording from the day it is installed, so it will not tell you what the house watched last year. That is only possible from a Tautulli you were already running, below.

If you already have Tautulli, connect it by hand — this is the one worth doing, because an existing Tautulli is where the deep history lives:

  1. Open Tautulli in a browser tab.
  2. Go to Settings → Web Interface.
  3. Scroll to the API block and make sure Enable API is on.
  4. Copy the API Key shown beneath it.
  5. In Kustos, Connections → Tautulli, paste the key, check the address, and press Save.

How you know it worked. People & History starts showing watches with dates earlier than your Kustos install.
