When the history looks wrong
Somebody's watches are missing
- Check the SOURCE column. It says where Kustos read each play. The feed is merged and de-duplicated across every source Kustos reads — Plex, Tautulli, Trakt, Simkl, the scrobbler, imports and hand-marked rows — so a row can carry more than one badge. A single badge means only that source caught it — which is the signal that your other sources have a gap.
- Connect a second watch source. Plex plus Simkl is the one to reach for: it is free, there is no VIP tier to buy, and it keeps per-person history. Plex plus Trakt, or Plex plus Tautulli, work the same way. A second source cross-checks the first, so a missed scrobble or an hour of Tautulli downtime cannot drop something somebody is still watching.
- For per-season TV, check you have a per-episode source. Plex history if enabled, or Tautulli. Trakt alone only reports series-level.
The account count is higher than the number of real people
That number is everyone your Plex server knows, friends included, and it is an upper bound rather than a promise. Kustos pulls history for whoever actually has plays, so accounts that have never watched anything simply contribute nothing.
One person shows up twice
They changed accounts. Use ABSORB on the current card to fold the old history in — see merging accounts. Once absorbed, the old row goes away and only the account they use is listed, including on Watchlists.
A person's actions are greyed out
They need their own Plex token for anything that pushes as them, or a Trakt link for anything that reads their taste. The control says which on the control itself rather than failing quietly in a log.
Title cards have the title printed on them twice
Open Activity → Artwork monitor → Double text. Auto-create printed a title onto a still that already had one.
- Source-first stops new ones being made. Turn it on first, or you will keep fixing the same problem.
- The scan looks at cards Kustos generated and flags suspects to eyeball. It is a heuristic, so expect some false positives. Dismiss those and they do not come back.
Delete empty collections did not delete an empty-looking collection
"Empty" is stricter than it looks, on purpose. It means the collection has been built at least once, its preview resolved, and none of its titles are in your library. Three kinds are deliberately skipped:
- Never built — never evaluated, so its emptiness is unknown.
- Preview errored, or still loading — also shows 0 items, but sweeping those would delete a populated collection on a transient failure.
- Orphan shells — they have no Kustos row, so they are a separate button that touches Plex only. Plex keeps a collection after its last title is deleted, and those hold 0 items without being managed by Kustos.
The button and the automatic sweep do different things. While delete below minimum is on, which it is by default under Settings → Media management, an empty collection is only taken out of Plex; its definition stays in Kustos and it comes back once it has members again. The button deletes the collection from Kustos as well as Plex, permanently, and counts as empty anything with nothing in the arr-fed library. Use it only for collections you never want back.
