When a setting does not seem to do anything

  • Check you are not looking at a pointer. A setting lives in exactly one place. Where a screen mentions one it does not own, it shows a link to here rather than a second copy of the control — two copies of a switch is how a switch ends up in two states.
  • Check the job that reads it has run. Many settings only take effect on the next run of their scheduled task. See task scheduling, and note it is three tiers: a job can be perfectly real and simply not be one of the ten shown by default.
  • Check it is a default, not a rule. Where this page names a starting value, that is what Kustos ships with, not a recommendation for your library. Limits, batch sizes and cadences are all yours to change.
